A frequent presenter at technology conferences, including Taxonomy Boot Camps, Semantic Technology Conference and Info Camp, he has also lectured at the University of Washington, University of Toronto, University of Wisconsin and the University of North Carolina.

Gary has over 20 years of experience as a taxonomist and information consultant. He has worked with companies small and large, including Chevron, Boeing, Disney, IBM, Microsoft and REI and has partnered with Parker LePla on projects for City of Seattle and Group Health, among others.

Gary’s work allows companies to better manage their data and intellectual property by developing information infrastructures and processes that boost revenue, customer and employee satisfaction and efficiency. Specializing in taxonomy, search, auto-categorization, content management, governance and information infrastructure, Gary knows how to help companies assess where they are and get to where they want to go.

For the past 25 summers, Gary has lead wilderness canoe and sea kayaking trips in Alaska and Canada and is currently co-owner of Spirit Walker Expeditions of Alaska.
